Roman Day in Nîmes – Ancient Animations & Spartacus Show
The Polyglot Club community is delighted to invite you to an exceptional day trip to Nîmes on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during the great Roman-themed festivities and the iconic show at the Arena.
For one day, Nîmes, known as the “French Rome”, turns into a true Gallo-Roman city. An ancient market, a reconstructed Gallo-Roman village, gladiator fights, ancient dances and many free activities take over the city center, creating a festive and immersive atmosphere.
The highlight of the day (optional): the grand historical show at the Arena
Spartacus, the slave who defied Rome, a spectacular reenactment telling the story of the most famous gladiator, staged in the exceptional setting of the Arena of Nîmes.
The day is organized and accompanied by Polyglot Club. You are free to explore the city at your own pace, either with our host, in small groups with other participants, or independently, while enjoying a structured, friendly and lively group experience throughout the day.
Your guide and host: This excursion will be conducted in both French and English by your favorite Irish showman, Dónal, well-known and beloved for hosting the Polyglot evenings every Tuesday night in Aix, bringing his humor and contagious joy for life.
PROGRAM
1. Departure from Marseille
Meeting point right next to Saint-Charles train station, near the entrance of the Saint-Charles Faculty of Sciences (Place Victor Hugo).

Departure at 8:00 am.
2. Pick-up in Aix-en-Provence
Avenue Henri Mouret, next to the Partouche Casino.
Pick-up at 8:30 am.
3. Nîmes
Discover Nîmes and its ancient-themed events.
Participants may follow the Polyglot Club coordinator, form small groups, or explore independently, while remaining part of the group.
Activities offered:
- Ancient market: free
Roman-inspired market with around forty vendors and terrace cafés in an ancient atmosphere.
- Gallo-Roman village: free
Demonstration workshops (ceramics, bronze, leather, ancient food, fortifications), immersive sets, wooden games, and falconry demonstrations.
4. Lunch
Free lunch in the city center, together with the coordinator or in small groups with other participants.
5. Afternoon
Show option (individual booking required): Spartacus, the Slave Who Defied Rome
- Schedule: from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
- Show price (Category 3, lowest-priced seating): €16 full price / €5 reduced rate / Free for children under 4

Late Arrival

Non-Payment
We also reserve the right to refuse participation to individuals who have not paid the balance before the bus departs.

Participation of Minors
Minor children must be accompanied by their parents, legal representatives, or guardians to participate. No waiver can be signed by our guides. If a minor arrives alone, we will not be able to allow their participation in the excursion, and a full refund will be offered.
