Yes you’ve gessed that I will speak about the Dakota access pipeline.

First of all, what’s the Dakota Access pipeline ?

The Dakota Access Pipeline is a 1825 kilometers long underground oil pipeline in the United States.

The route begins in the Bakken shale oil fields in northwest North Dakota and travels south-east, through South Dakota and Iowa, ending at the oil tank farm near Patoka, Illinois.

The pipeline was built by Dakota Access, a company based in Houston Texas.

And there is a lot of partners to this project : Phillips 66 (an American multinational energy company), Enbridge (an Canadian company focused on the transportation of oil), and Marathon Petroleum (American oil refining, marketing, and transportation company) and even a French Bank : BNP paribas.

This $3.78 billion project was announced to the public on June 25, 2014, and was delivered in last April.

It will actually have a lot of impact on the environment and on our tribe.

Indeed This indicates a high risk for the Missouri river because of the potential oil waste in it.

It is a threat to the wildlife and for us !

Indeed, this river is the major provider of water and that’s the reason why that oil is dangerous for health.

Also, its route is on the sacred churchyard of the standing rock tribe : we think it will actually prevent us from practising freely our religion.

This project was stopped by Obama because he knew the concequences for the environnement and the Indian tribe.

But Trump, a man who thinks that, and I quote : The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-compétitive, reissued this monstruous project.

And behind this is a lots of other projects of fossil energy which are dangerous for the nature and the ethnic population.

This project shows the very concerning environnemental policy of Trump to the world.

He plans to start the fossil energy exploitation in Alaska as well, or the other constructions like Keystone XL.

For that reason, we have to keep on the fight against that : keep on demonstration in washinton like we set tipies on the national Mall the 10 march 2017, keep on preventing the authorities to access to the pipeline by setting campment, keep on the legal remedies, keep on asserting our values, keep on « defending the sacred ».
