Recently, three sociologists studied street harassment in Bordeaux: the result is disturbing.

Friday, November 25th, the international fight against women’s violence day, these three sociologists presented the result about big investigation on women’s harassment in town.

Arnaud Alessandrin, Laetitia César-Franquet and Johanna Dagorn show the women’s fear and the feeling of insecurity in public space.

According to them, it’s a currently phenomenon in Bordeaux.

Harassment or in this case, street harassment, is something which exist for a long time.

But it’s only from 2010 that we can hear talk about it in the media.

The sexism harassment is characterized by the fact to impose all remarks or behaviors to somebody due of his gender or his sexual orientation and create an intimidating, humiliating, degrading or offensive situation infringing to somebody’s dignity.

Street harassment begin with whistle, finish with rape, and through insult, forced kiss, and others… Every form of harassment is unacceptable (and have law punishment).

Women’s daily life shouldn’t look like that.

How can we stop sexism street harassment in the 21st century?

At beginning, we will talk about the Harassment, and then we will look at the solutions which are used.

Street harassment is a currently phenomenon in the world.

In France like to England, some ways to fight and prevention were set up to improve women’s life.

We could quote the development of facilities in public space for an optimal reaction.
