Danish slang

Hi there

i'm french and I'm learning danish.

I'm looking for vocabulary that cannot be found in ordinary wordbooks : sayings, familiar words, slang, "dirty words", etc...

I would be happy if danish speaking people could help me with that : lists of words, internet links, book references, etc...

Thanks in advance.

Hello!

I know it is possible to buy a dictionary on Danish slang. I don't remember the title but the word slang is part of it and you should be able to get help to finding it in any medium size bookstore in Denmark or be able to borrow it in a public library. If they don't have one on the shelves, they will most certainly help you by ordering it home. Normally you will be allowed to borrow books for between 7 to 30 days according to how asked for the book is.

As for making a word list, I colud help you. But I don't have many slang words present in my mind and don't think of it when I use them. But if you tell me which English slang words and expressions you would like to know the Danish counterparts of, I would probably be able to make you an extensive list.

Danish sayings are called "ordsprog" and I think it should be possible to find books on that both in bookstores and the public library too.

Feel free to ask anything about the Danish language. I think I speak and write the language like the top 10% of the native speakers.

Best wishes in your language hunt!!!
