Nowadays many people know foreign languages.
There is a question is it enough to know foreign language well for working as an interpreter.
To my mind, it is not enough.
Firstly, I believe that an interpreter is to have special personal qualities.
He or she should be very communicative, concentrated, attentive and responsible.
Secondly, a person who would like to work as an interpreter has to finish a course of study foreign languages at the university and get a qualification.
What is more, an interpreter should have a lot of practice in instantaneous speech translation.
But other people have a different opinion concerning this problem.
They are sure that if a person speaks a foreign language fluently, he or she has all the necessary skills for interpretation and this person is able to start conversation at any moment.
I totally disagree with this opinion.
I am sure that a business interpretation by a person without any language education is absolutely useless and substandard.
Moreover, a shy uncommunicative man with poor diction is not able to do a high-quality interpretation.
In conclusion, I would like to stress that person who wants to work as an interpreter must have both personal qualities and professional qualities or knowledge in addition to fluent speaking.
