  • Annecy

  • Only a few weeks ago, I shared with you my desire to go visit Annecy, in the East of France, next to the Swiss border.
  • And my wish has already come true.
  • Last week end, my best friend took me to a trip there, and I was not disappointed (Thanks Isma ;)) Annecy is a fresh, refined and colourful town.
  • In a nutshell: it’s adorable!
  • Lost in a cocoon made of snowy mountains, bordered by a wide lake and crossed by small channels where majestic swans splash about happily, the place has the humility of the small towns and the charm of its past.
  • Its houses made of stone follow each other along the narrow paved streets bordered by archways where the craftsmen display their products.
  • Small bridges cross the canals at regular interval and arched gates lead the way from a street to the next one.
  • The buildings are old, neat, colourful, and keep a beauty that comes from a long time ago.
  • By letting the town take us away, we quickly end up in another distant age.
  • The castle sits in state on the top of the hill, invincible and hard to reach following the abrupt streets that one climbs while marvelling at the beauty of the bushes and gardens that sneak among the old houses.
  • The town is a rest; it gets pleasure from a comforting tranquillity and an invigorating chilliness.
  • It’s pleasant to stroll there, to step on the stones of the alleys, to walk under ancient arks and narrow bridges, to look up and see the elegant signs of the shops and restaurants swinging in the wind, to stop in an inn decorated with wooden furniture and checked tablecloths to taste the local delightful (but not light at all) food.
