His kingdom was quite small but still not that insignificant as to prevent the prince from marriage.

And prince wanted to marry.

This, of course, was impudent of him to ask the daughter of emperor: 'Will you marry me?'.

However, he bore a great name and he knew that hundreds of princesses would gladly except his proposal.

I wonder what the emperor's daughter answered him.

So let's listen what it was like.

The father of the princess died and a rose bush grew up on his grave of incredible beauty.

It blossomed only once in five year.

And only one rose blossomed on it.

But what a rose it was!It smelled so sweet that after smelling it you'd forget all your worries and sorrow.

Also the prince had a nightingale which sang so wonderfully as if all the best tunes of this world were stored up in its little throat.

The rose and the nightingale were intended as the gifts to the princess.

They were put into large silver caskets and sent to her.

The emperor ordered to bring the caskets right into a great hall where the princess played 'guests' with her ladies of waiting - she didn't have any other employments.The princess clapped her hands on seeing the large caskets with presents.

-If only there was a little pussy!

- exclaimed she.

But in the casket there was a rose bush with a wonderful rose.

-Oh, how cute it's done!- prattled the ladies of waiting.

-More than cute, - spoke the emperor, - just splendid!

But the princess touched the rose and nearly began to cry. -Fie, papa!

- said she.-It's not artificial but it's real!

-Fie!- Repeated all the courtiers.-Real! -Hold on!

Look at first what's in another casket, - proclaimed emperor.

Then the nightingale flew out of the cascade and it began to sing so wonderfully that it couldn't say a bad word about it.

-Incomparable, lovely!

- began to jabber the ladies of waiting.

All of them jabbered French one not worse than another.

How much this bird reminds me the musical snuffbox of late empress.- said one of the old courtiers.- The same timbre, the same sound submission(introduction).

- Yes!- exclaimed the emperor and began to cry as a child.

- I hope the bird isn't real?- asked the princess.

- It's totally real!- her ambassadors answered who delivered the gifts.

- Then let is fly wherever it wants,- declared the princess and she refused to except the prince.
