  • The Pros and Cons of Damaging Untouched Places for Resources

  • In the modern world the majority of countries have begun using more and more natural resources which are being consumed for transportation and production reasons.
  • But these energy sources are limited, that means in the near future people will need to search in new places such as the Antarctic, the deep oceans and other undeveloped areas.
  • In this essay I am going to discuss the pros and cons of developing oil and gas fields in these places.
  • On the one hand, for governments worldwide it is vital to have sources of energy for covering the energy demands of different economic sectors.
  • Therefore, having additional resources could reduce the prices for natural energy sources such as oil and gas.
  • So, developing areas, where these kinds of sources could be found, has to be an important priority for governments.
  • Otherwise, when the current sources are exhausted, prices could cause inflation to dramatically increase, which in turn might create worldwide recession for a long time.
  • On the other hand, developing fuel reserves in new areas could damage the wildlife and, in the worst case scenario, could be a reason for the deaths of an enormous amount of wild animals.
  • For instance, deforestation for producing wood in the Amazon has become the reason for animals’ deaths, which, as a result, has damaged the local eco-system.
  • In conclusion, there are many countries where having enough supplies of natural resources is the most important thing for the balance of the economy.
  • Therefore, in spite of the fact that developing new areas for getting these kinds of energy sources could damage the environment, people should develop fuel reserves in new places, but with environmentally friendly technology.
