Hi, I am Marzia and I am Italian.
I like Bruce Springsteen very much.
This morning I tried to traslate one of his most famous song: "Thunder Road", to understand the meaning.
But a line in the end of the song catched me:
"But when you get to the porch they're gone"
Just yesterday I read that the present perfect simple is formed with the auxiliar verb to have and the past participle of the main verb.
The auxiliar be is not used.
So, why the line says in that way?
What is the meaning of "they're gone"?
What is the difference between "they've gone" and "they're gone"?
Thanks to everyone who have read my experience and everyone who will answer me.
