In summer 2011 my whole family and I went on a cruise.
We started in Genua, Italia and visited every day a new country for 8 days.
The places where we have been were Marseille, Barcelona, Tuna, Malta, Sizilien and Salerno.
The purpose of the holiday was actually to relax and to see very much countries and different cultures in a short time.
To be honest I don´t know if a cruise is eco-friendly but I think it is not that bad than fly around the world with a big plain.
When you go on such a ship you don´t know how much garbage or how much food have to dispose.
After my holiday I informed about this and found out that this is incredibly much mass because the people on the ship drink for example a lot of beverages from a tin.
I don´t believe that local people are involved in the cruise business because the people who work at such a ship came from all over the world and not only from the destinations we visited.
Although this business have one big positive impact.
These are the better economic situation because the day trippers buy things or need a guide or something like that and so in this towns are more jobs for the local people.
I would say I left a middle size of the CO2 footprint but I only have to say that it was such a great experience for my life that I will not miss.
At my next holiday I plan to inform me until I went there and search for solutions how I can make my trip eco-friendlier and not to exploit the local people.
