In order to engage in scientific enquire we must make two important assumptions.
The first of these assumptions is that the world around us exists outside of our own mind.
Would those trees, those houses, and those people be there if I weren’t here?
No experiment can prove that the outside world is more than just a figment of our imagination.
The second of these assumption is that our perceptions of the outside world are reliable enough to permit us to learn about the outside world.
Even if there is such a thing as the outside world, how can I be sure that my perceptions of the outside world correspond to the actual outside world?
Hence, since science must rely on these two assumptions, it can be concluded that science, just like religion, is based on faith.
