The son of an emancipated slave, Northup was born free.
He had a family and he worked hard to earn his living.
He was a multifaceted laborer and an excellent violin player.
However, someday, two con men offered him a job in Washington D.C, where he should play the violin in a circus.
They drugged him and sold him as a slave to the South.
For the next twelve years, he had to work for several different slave masters and some of them treated him as cattle.
He managed to tell his story to another worker on the farm, who alerted his friends in the North.
They finally freed Northup and then he returned home to his family in New York.
I did not know very much about slavery before I saw this movie.
I knew that the Americans discriminated and exploited black movie, but the movie shows, that the masters treated them as cattle.
In my opinion that’s very cruel, because the people, who were sold as slaves, couldn’t do anything against it.
They had no to chance to stand against them.
However, the sad thing is that still now, black people are being discriminated, although they are ordinary people like you or me.
It should be produced more movies like this one, as it shows an important part of the American people and that is not okay to discriminate people.
Humans have the right to be free and this should remain no matter how the future will look like.
