  • Please correct my writing.

  • As we have seen this film it is something more than simply a bunch of scandalous sex scenes and some free violent.
  • People normally just pay attention to this stuff and forget about the real topic of the film, that it is not about sex, it is about sorrow and the human condition.
  • Every single frame talks us about how people try to battle within themselves with feelings that they do not know how to beat, so they try to avoid them with distractions as sex or drugs, but it is not just that, the film shows also the process how Paul go through his pain, eventually he is assassinated by her.
  • With a light contrast Paul goes to the balcony, this scene is in a symbolic way the process of going toward the light when someone dies, in a metaphoric liberation, it would been the only way to salve him.
  • The plot is incredibly riveting but what make it special is the Marlon Brando’s performance.
  • In almost his fifties kept been a sex symbol, but now is different from the Marlon of A streetcar named desire, where he showed himself as an indomitable beast, however now he is closer to an exhausted man, even though we see him punch the door aggressively.
  • This character was very well-developed because, in part he was playing himself.
  • Bertolucci was lucky to have Marlon, and made him show himself in the deepest way he ever did in front of a camera, this gives to his acting a huge credibility.
  • As we have seen in many of these scenes (or maybe the whole film) he took feelings and stories from his past; I personally think that in the monolog of the last analyzed scene, he was talking to his mother, even when he always loved her and took care of her she was an alcoholic, something that together with his tough father ruined his childhood, and probably sour his life.
  • I like when you can look into the backgrounds of a movie and find more and more interesting stuff, and here just with the career of Bertolucci and Marlon I have a lot of material for discover and learn from.
  • The film is like an Argentinian tango, deep and sorrowful, with some touch of eroticism; the tale of a person who hit the bottom and try to find his path, maybe the last tango for Marlon too, because it was the last film where him gave his best actuation, the performance of a person who probably never was completely happy, but blinded everyone with his talent.
