  • Power can be defined as the ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events ; or a political authority.
  • Why can education be considered as a power, especially against weapons ?
  • First I'll talk about the power of school and education, then I'll talk about education's fight in places where it is not totally accepted.
  • Education is a human right.
  • Children in rural areas and in conflict regions have almost not opportunity to become educated, while girls around the world continue to face disadvantages in education.
  • In developed countries like in Europe, we have the chance to be able to access to knowledge, which gives us the power to express ourself better, to find a job, to be independant.
  • Education brings development too.
  • In India and China, this education has a clear economic advantage.
  • Furthermore, it opens up the possibility of greater participation and democratic change.
  • In countries like Afghanistan or North Korea, the majority of population lacks education and the ability compare independent information.
  • People cannot network and engage in open exchanges with each other either, so the dictators and autocrats can feel secure.
  • Education leads to democracy and the right to vote.
  • Moreover, school allows kids to dream of anything and have the confidence that they can achieve their goal.
  • So education really have a big power concerning the economics, politics, health, and it's also of a great healp socially.

  • » Now I'm going to talk about Malala Yousafzai.

  • Due to her, the Pakistani government announced that they would adopt new measures to give education to every child by the end of 2015.
  • But Malala got shot in 2012 by the Talibans and is seriously injured.
  • The courage of Malala has awaken Pakistan, and the majority of the population don't tolerate the threat of Pakistan Taliban anymore.
  • The often criticized politicians have to find teachers, classrooms and material to give million of children a basic education.
  • In 2014, Malala recieved the Nobel price of peace, which makes her the youngest winner of this prize.
  • Malala Day is a special day created this year on 14 July 2014.
  • It is not just a day to celebrate this girl.
  • It is a day for all children everywhere to raise their voices and be heard.
  • It is also a day to stand up for education and say to world that we are stronger than the enemies of education.
  • Malala said : « One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can chenge the world.
  • » To sum up, I would say that education is definitely a power, that makes countries and people develop themselves.
  • It is good for a better economy and technical progress, for a peaceful and democratic government, and for the future of its population.
  • The example of Malala shows us that education is still not acquired in every country, and some people have to fight and risk their life to obtain this power.
  • Education gives freedom and fight against weapons, which only brings destruction and fear.
  • In my opinion, the key of a peaceful world is a good education.
