Hi my name is Vlad I'm 26 I'm from Russia I'm a student and a future seafarer .

I learn English because it's crucial for my future job .

I've been learning English for about 3 years and I already watch movies , serials , cartoons , sometimes news , documentary programs( my favorite ) and so on .

I would like to tell you my technique of learning English and maybe someone share his one with me .

So my first step was to read a book " English for beginners " that I was given .

In this book I've read that it's advisable all new words to write down in a dictionary along with transcription and translation ( 3 column ) and then review them from time to time .

So I was reading the book but it wasn't easy because grammar was so boring and I began to look for something else .

Then I found some short serials for learners English and like I did before I wrote down the new words in my dictionary ...

Then I began to watch ordinary sort serials ( not for learners ) .

Firstly it was very difficult , I understood only about 10 % but if I read subtitles I could understand about 50 % I just didn't hear word that I knew .

But as they say - no pain no gain .

After some time I began understand more and more .

Now I've been finding special podcasts about different subjects ( culture , grammar , technology ...) , funny cartoons and serials with subtitles , stories , tales and so on and write down in my dictionary all new words then during 2 weeks I review them every single day and simultaneously I play over and over audio files those podcast I took new words from ( I listen them everywhere : while I go by bus , do something at home ( on a background ) or just when I have a free time ) .

After 2 weeks I take next podcasts( about 80 new words every 2 weeks ) and periodically review those I've done already .

Also when I just watch movies or something else if I hear some word over and over I write it down in my dictionary and then learn it .

I also changed language on my PC , cellphone , email , page in social network and so on .

Now my problem is a lack of communication in English with someone .

So my advices to beginners : don't be afraid first steps are the most difficult , memory like a muscle needs training ( after some time my memory have become much better ) , learning language needs time more practice better skill !!!

, language is forgettable so use it or lose it !!!
