Australia: European Explorations
It isn´t very clear who was the first European that discovered Australia.
It is believed that was a Dutchman called Willem Jansz in 1606 and landed on Australia soil, James Cook, an Englishman was the first European in sail along the Eastern coast of Australia.
Though some historians have found evidence that seem to show that the first European in sail the coasts of Australia were Portuguese sailors.
