  • • Students: The first thing I notice is that students are very active, autonomous, and that they know each other very well.
  • They are all used to playing by themselves at the village and also used to mixing all kind of ages in their games.
  • More ahead in the course, I also notice that the relation with the teacher is very closed.
  • I will make an emphasis on that, as there are less students in class, they are all used to have the teacher telling them so many things that in other school couldn’t be told, such as take this book to your house or write the homework in your agenda and so on..
  • Speaking about my group of students, I must say that I have a reduced number of students in class.
  • In addition, I’m very lucky because the management team gives a lot of credit to the English classes, so all my students are the same age, differing from the rest of the subjects.
  • I found this as an opportunity for them and for me to have a good learning year.
  • • English level As far as our subject is concerned, I soon notice that sometimes in the villages people don’t see the function of languages.
  • Generally in this village, people are less motivated about travelling or learning languages.
  • With this context, one of my first aims was to make them see the necessity of learning languages in our actual world.
  • When I first got there I realized that they found English boring and most of them didn’t like the subject.
  • They have an average level in writing and reading but even the oldest pupils couldn’t speak almost anything.
  • They are used to work with old methods, more focused on grammar than in oral comprehension.
  • Therefore, grammar activities are easier though less motivating for them.
