This festival takes place in a town called San Antonio de los Cobres.

This town is among the highest inhabited places on Earth.

To reach there one have to take the famous "Train to the Clouds" from the city of Salta, it will take several hours of riding along cliff faces and thin bridges suspended between the mountains.

Pachamama is celebrated in a month-long festival, starting on the 1st of August.

During each weekend of that month, within the Province of Salta, a different town hosts large festivities.

The purpose of this festival is to thank her (mother earth) for her generosity, to apologize that we only take and do not give her anything in return.

The festival is carried on by the Kolla people.

During the festival the people dance in costumes from fabrics of classic Andean patterns and drinks chicha, an alcohol made since at least the time of the Incas.

August is great time for tourist to come, visit and experiment this extraordinary corner of earth.

They will share the joy of the Kolla people.
