For this notion, we will focus on the progress of energy, and notably of renewable energy.

We may ask ourselves why renewable energy exists nowadays and what are their assets and drawbacks.

In my speech, I’m going to talk first of all about the reasons why renewable energy exists and we will focus secondly on advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy.

I ) Let’s start the first part.

In fact, fossils fuels and nuclear power which used coal, oil and gas for the first one and uranium for the second are qualified by “non renewable energy”.

Indeed they use, as their name, non renewable energy and they contribute to increasing pollution because of the reject of waste as Carbone dioxide which is a greenhouse gas and increase greenhouse effect and yet, global warming.

We studied a picture which represent a city with a dark atmosphere and a lot of activity.

It shows the fact men can harness nature and take advantages of it but at the same time, the fact that men produce thanks to these activities a lot of pollution.

We also studied a reportage which deals with fossil fuels and pollution, they expose the fact that it’s important to change our own energy for product electricity because in future, if greenhouse effect grow up, our atmosphere will change, and perhaps, it can have consequences for life.

In this way, renewable energy are invented as a solution for producing electricity with environmental concerns.

II ) Let’s start the second part.

Indeed, renewable energy doesn’t produce wastes because they use energy of environment as the sun and the wind.

There are a lot of renewable energy as solar power, wind power, tidal power, hydro-electric power, biomass or biogas.

I have studied notably energy created by wind turbines offshore for a presentation.

In fact wind blows the propeller round, which turn a generator to produce electricity, which is import in a big rope from the wind turbines to the coast.

Moreover, all renewable energy have advantage and disadvantage, for example, wind power use the wind which is free but the propeller can kill birds !

For a hydro-electric power, electricity can be generated constantly but it’s very expensive to build it.

I want to insist on the fact that a renewable energy is an idea of progress for our society because they contribute to reducing the production of greenhouse effect when we use them than non renewable energy.

To conclude, renewable energy exists for limited the greenhouse effect and allows us to preserve our atmosphere for the future, in this way, they are an idea of progress.
