  • Names

  • What do you think about names?
  • I think they are something else than mere words used to refer to someone.
  • A name is more than what it seems at first glance.
  • It's a part of the person itself, and therefore has a great importance.
  • When you introduce yourself, one of the first things you probably say is the name.
  • Any other information (age, job, where you live, etc.) you give before your name will seem incomplete; something important will be missing.
  • If you don't mention your age, or job, for example, people won't ask you that information immediately; but if you ommit your name, they will stop and say, referring to the other stuff you said about you: "Good, but, what's your name?" The name is the most common answer given to the question "Who are you?" It is also the first resource we have to refer to someone in particular, and one of the sounds we pay more attention to.
  • If you are in a noisy place and suddenly hear your name, you immediately turn around and try to find who's calling you.
  • This is, in a few words, my opinion about personal names.
  • Maybe you don't agree with me, but I wanted to share this idea in English.
