  • Help please :)

  • Hello, I'm a high school student in France and I would like the help of someone for an english task in order to prepare my baccalaureate.
  • Thanks for your help :) I’m going to talk about the notion of space and reciprocity.
  • I would like to illustrate this notion through the theme of the immigration.
  • We may wonder if “is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence?
  • In other words, if is the life better for immigrants in others countries or not.
  • My presentation will fall into 2 parts : first of all, I will concentrate on the better life according for immigrants.
  • Then, I will analyze the disillusion which they can be victim.
  • Firstly, we may say that migrants achieve success and happiness in their new country.
  • They search for a better life and escaping poverty or the war in order to have a decent life.
  • When they escape from their native country, they hope they will have a better life and they will success.
  • Most of the time, only once goes in the country and send his money for his family.
  • Some immigrants fulfilled the American Dream and became very famous like Rihanna, the famous singer who is a Barbadian, who illustrates her vision of the USA today, in her song, called “American Oxygen” and the fact that poor people can grow up in the society for whatever reason, she said for example “You can be anything at all in America, America”.
  • She would like to say that there’s hope and infinite possibilities in America.
  • Other very famous people were immigrants and climbed the social ladder (the Kennedy family = Irish => political success / Arnold Schwarzenegger) and became very successful.
  • Others, managed to escape their poor condition of life.
  • In order to illustrate this, I’ve chosen the text “Almost there” extract from Brooklyn by Colm Toibin in 2009.
  • This document deals with Eilis who is a poor Irish and Sylvia who is a Jewish and fled Nazi persecution.
  • USA is for them a land of liberty and a way to find a job.
  • Both documents make us realize that people based their hope for the future in a dream which they are not sure to be true.
  • Secondly, the grass is not always greener for some immigrants who see their dream smashed.
  • For example, at the time of Elis Island, between 1892 and 1954, America didn’t welcome migrants who were no strong enough to contribute to the wealth and the growth of the US.
  • Because of the large influx of people, the government established a control system.
  • Particularly, people who were sick, or illiterate or anarchist, or Bolshevik or communist.
  • For instance, the video which recount Eilis Island history illustrate this.
  • Indeed, the critic said that this kind of people were deported back to their home country and explained the massive evolution and the increase of controls.
  • This situation is also true today in Australia, where the policy controlled the entries on the country in order to refused people who have temporary visas or illegally and who seek asylum.
  • Consequently, leaving one’s country for another country was risked.
  • For example, crossing from Europe to America was difficult and dangerous dreadful inspections at Eilis Island, an island where the immigrants were selected according to their capacities.
  • Policy proceeded to medical inspections, papers inspections and a succession of 29 questions about the knowledge of the host country, so it traduce the difficulty to enter legally in the country.
  • It’s because of all this that lot of immigrants try to enter illegally in countries at our time and risked their lives.
  • For example, on august 2015, 70 dead body were found in a truck dead by suffocation in Austria.
  • This migrants used the Balkans road in order to escape the sea patrols who controlled the sea because of lot sinking in the Mediterranean Sea.
  • To conclude, I would like to say that the migrants can find a better life and seek a better life in a richest country than their self.
  • But also they can be victim of nightmare because of the disillusion.
  • In my opinion, welcome migrants it’s a good thing for them, if they flee oppression of their home country.
  • But in the case that they search a job, or they want to earn more money, I’m disagree because there is lot of employment in our country and it’s difficult to welcome anybody.
