Every year, since December untill march, we have sometime hurricans.
When that arrives, we listen carefully the news at the TV or on the radio to know if the phenomenon is near of the island.
Then we rush quickly to the shop for buying water, batteries, tincans just to have to eat and to drink if we can't go out.
And we use the batteries for the radio if it hasn't electricity.
Forward, the weather is quiet and noiseless.
You can hear the birds singing, the sky is blue and the sun shines but the time is heavy.
Suddenly, the sky becomes blurred.
The hurrican, a great whirlwind with rainy clouds and strong winds with a hole in the middle, reaches the island.
You have to close your house better that you can and wait.
Here many houses are made with wood and sheetmetal, so there are flimsy.
If you are unlucky, you can loose all.
You begin to prepare the candles for the lights and the batteries for the radio if there isn't electricity, then some food and water.
Gradually, the weather is bad.
You hear the strong winds breathing with the rain on your house.
The noises of sheetmetal and tree branches breaking on the streets.
It lasts a lot of hours forward the hole of the whirlwind moves on the island.
In this moment, there is a lull during one or two hours, until beginning the same phenomenon because the half of the hurrican is yet here.
Overtime, you pray because you're afraid.
You listen the radio, it's the lonely link with outdoor.
After that, when all is quiet, when the prohibition of going out is take off, you open your door and you see the might of the nature.
You feel small.
