The history of the US is neither the best example of moral purity, nor free nation.

The Indian genocide, slavery and segregation are historical examples of the racism that is still a current social problem among others, such as the extreme income inequality or the prison overcrowding.

In regard to the American fight for liberty abroad, we can observe that the US has a long list of inhuman acts which they don’t take responsibility for, such as being the first country to use nuclear weapons against another nation twice, the use of chemical weapons or the actual bombing of civilians with drones.

So now that we have seen that the US is not that perfect, we may ask ourselves, why does Obama insist that (in his own words) “The United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world”?

What is this ‘spreading freedom’ all about?

To find out who gets benefit from this exceptionalism we have to understand how the system works: The US is an oligarchy of business groups and lobbies, such as the banking or military lobbies, which make pressure on governments to get whatever they want.
