- The table illustrates the amount of households living (who lived) in poverty divided by family type (single aged person, aged couple, single without children, couple without children, sole parent and couple with children) in Australia during 1999.
- Overall, the family type which had more people living in poverty, in percentage, was sole parent with 21%.
- While couple with children had a lower percentage of people living in poverty (12%) compared to sole parent (21%).
- But 12% of the couple with kids were 933.000 people, which coincide with the 50% of the whole households who lived in poverty.
- In fact all households were 11% of the the entire population, which corresponds with 1.837.000 people.
- Whereas, the family type with the lower percentage was the aged couple with just a 4% (48.000 people).
- Other categories which had high values of pour people were single with no children (19%, 359.000 people) and couple with children (7%, 211.000 people).
