Thoreau inherited from Emmerson a profound understanding and love for nature and as he did with his mentor’s concept of self-reliance, he also experimented his ideas on the natural world, seeing for himself the tremendous importance of nature in man’s life.

Thoreau describes with gusto and poetical beauty his environment as an example, a canoe trip in the immaculate water of a pond to him it feels like “floating through the air as in a balloon”.

Even the forms that the thawing sand make on the floor are a revelation for him.

Living with the essential in the woods he felt genuinely connected with nature; Thoreau understands that everything is interconnected and all humanity is part of divinity.

He despites those who waste their lives searching for money instead of embracing these vital lessons he worshiped “Thoreau dreamed of a life all integral, whose every activity would help ripen the unique product lying potential in the soul.” Even though he shares several wise pieces of advice he does not want us to imitate him, but to think for ourselves and to live fully.
