Many people, hearing about council plans to pedestrianise city centre, are afraid, that it will be a death sentence for local business and shops.
But examples all over the world show different results.
Towns' and cities' centres closed for cars are very lively parts.
People walk along the streets, not afraiding of cars, which may hit them, just after buying those luxury perfums...
The restaurants have now space to put out some tables and in the season people may enjoy their meals and drinks in the sun.
There is no close polution from cars, so they can breath fresh air.
There is no noise, so they can easily talk with each others without hearing aid necessary.
All closed for cars streets are full of people, who slowly walk, watching all shops' windows and entering, if they will see something interesting.
They have more stress about small children, because there are no cars.
They can play their games while adults could talk serious topics about the weather and recent politics.
Other thing – going by bus is more relaxing sometimes.
You do not need to spend an hour watching for free parking space.
You do not need to leave your friends just because you have to repark your car after an hour.
It is also good for socialising.
In the bus you might meet a fun of same books you read.
Do you remember commuting to school and all those topics about life you was talking about with other school people?
You will not miss cars in your town centre for sure, and local business and shops will even grow without them.
