The complexity of the reality
It has been only a few time since I started wondering how do my generation feel about all these recent terrible events.
Events that mark a turning point in the contemporary History.
Now, I wonder how we feel about this time of trouble that is obscuring our future,
How we feel about this dark period that is making our tomorrows insecure.
Economic crises, refugees crises, terrorist attacks... have burst the enchanting bubble we were living in and have let our hearts fill up with hatred and bigotry.
We are now coming back to earth, and we are all facing together a huge challenge.
And even if this huge challenge is standing right in front of us, i have the feeling that we don't see it.
We are facing the complexity of the harsh reality.
That is, all those tragedies that I quoted do have several causes, multiple explanations They do involve a plurality of actors, of intermediaries.
And they do have lots of consequences also.
There's a mountain of processes we have to understand, or at least to try to understand.
So, when I heard the French Prime Minister said that “explaining the jihadism, it's almost excusing it” Only a couple days after the Paris attacks, my anger overstepped my sorrow.
How can we fix a major issue without even knowing its most basic roots?
Yet, we're all running away from the complexity of the reality.
We like simple things.
Straight things.
We don't like having to search for a long time.
So, naturally, everyone simplifies everything.
We want to talk about everything without knowing anything.
Even the press, the newspapers do it everytime.
They resume articles under fallacious headlines to catch our attention.
It's the race for buzz.
You'll tell me: that's okay if we don't give our opinion on topics we don't know.
But that's false, we do that all the time.
With Facebook, Twitter, Instagram … they encourage us to have an opinion on each issue we see.
They want us to like, dislike, be angry, be happy...
