Photograph of the Eiffel tower during the heatwave in (of?) 2003.

This photograph shows the esplanade of the Champ de Mars* with the Eiffel tower in the middle of the scene.

At the bottom of the tower a lot of people are sitting or lying out in sunbathe on the grass around a public fountain (correct syntaxe?).

The photo was probably taken during the summer at the end of the day.

The white light at the horizon, on the right-hand side of the photo, suggests that the sundown (sunset) is approaching.

In the foreground there is a line of people who are chatting/ having conversation with their feet in the water of the public basin.

Just behind them, a big crowd fill the scene: someone is having a bath in the fountain, someone else is reading under beach umbrellas or getting some sunshine.

There is a bridge under the tower which (?) links two sections of Paris getting across (?) the Seine river.

In the background, the Eiffel tower catches the viewer's eye because of its position (?) in the picture, nevertheless we can see in the distance the Montparnasse skyscraper and some other buildings being part of La Défense's quarter.

The atmosphere is serene and we could feel to be in the mood to join the crowd having a very good time in water under the sunlight.

Unfortunately, bathing oneself in the basin of public fountains is actually forbidden/illegal in the French capital!
