  • Student job opening

  • To Whom It May Concern: Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Letters (general concentration) and currently a student in a master’s program (modern languages with a focus on business), I am writing to submit my application for the student job opening in the Center of English Corpus Linguistics.
  • I am willing to work for ten to fifteen hours a week during this term and/or during August.
  • If the job does not enable homeworking, I will not be able to work during this term, as I will be studying in Spain from now through June.
  • I believe to have acquired the required skills in the knowledge of English for this job.
  • I have always had a particular interest in the English language.
  • When I was eighteen, I had the opportunity to go live abroad in an English-speaking country for ten months.
  • This experience allowed me to improve my understanding of the language as well as my communication skills.
  • I then decided to go study the language (along with others) at the UCL, as I wanted to practice the language in different areas such as linguistics and literature.
  • As my transcript of records shows, I have always managed to keep up with good grades in classes given in English.
  • I now believe to have acquired the necessary skills for this job.
  • I also have a particular interest in the study of English linguistics.
  • I have been studying English Linguistics for three and a half years now and I would be honored to participate in the constitution of a corpus of research.
  • I already had the opportunity to work with existing corpora on a grammar-related aspect within the frame of my bachelor research paper with Professor Sylviane Granger.
  • I then decided to go one step further and I chose to do my master’s thesis in English linguistics as well.
  • I am highly motivated in working for the CECL.
  • I am convinced that this working experience to be extremely fulfilling and enriching, especially as it would provide me with a concrete experience in the field of linguistics, which would definitely be helpful for my master’s thesis and my professional future.
  • Thank you for your consideration and for your time.
  • Please accept, Sir, Madam, the assurance of my highest consideration.
  • Do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss student job opportunities.
