The purpose of this article is to show you one of the most popular and followed national custom of Spain: “The Three Wise Men”.
That is a real party for childhood.
When parents, grandparents and relatives are involved in a fantasy world.
The three wise men come from East with their magic at an exciting night.
There are a lot of parades throughout Spain, in every city, town, village…the afternoon before “The Three Wise Men Day”.
Every single family goes to “The Three Wise Parade” in order to shout and say hello to their favourite Wise Man, called Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar.
Apart from that it is a colourful and beautiful spectacle.
At this moment, children are worried about the letters sent by them asking gifts, furthermore they wonder themself if they have had a proper behaviour throughout the year before.
The custom says that children must put cookies and milk in their slippers in order to feed the camels.
This is the truth of it: It is the only night in which children want to go early to bed.
When the morning arrives they get up early too.
As you can imagine the exciting, amazing and happy day starts.
They find their presents and coal in some few occasions, in fact sugar coal.
Personally, I believe that it is a kind and friendly national custom.
