Water sciences require the acquisition of a large number of data, namely, dimension of the piezometric level, hydrodynamic parameters (permeability and transmissivity) determined from the pumping test, impermeable wall level (bedrock) of the aquifer when the latter has been achieved by several mechanical drillings, precipitation height measured by a pluviometer, etc. However, this data acquisition would constitute by itself an incomplete goal.

To be able to extract information from them, the raw numeric data must always undergo treatment to allow identifying the major structural features of the studied variables.

The development of geostatistics in water sciences allowed regionalizing both spatial and temporal variables.

These techniques permit the hydrogeologist to have additional tools for the identification and characterization of the operating mode of the aquifer systems.
