Germany: Why do young people prefer A. Merkel?

According to a survey, in Germany, since it’s a time of uncertainty, young people opt for stability and continuity.

So, differently than their French peers, attracted by Marine Le Pen’s anti-establishment party, almost half of the German young people, who will be voting for the first time in September, are going to choose “die Mutti” (the mum), to wit, Mrs. Angela Merkel, the lady they have grown up with.

The pool states that the odds are in favour of the chancellor of 47% among the electors aged between 18 and 21.

Whereas, her opponent, the social democratic Mr. Martin Schulz, is at 29%.

Merkel’s success among new electors emerged to be higher than the general consent, in which the leader reached a support level of 43%, compared with Schulz’s of 32%.

Manfred Gullner stated: “the youngsters know the chancellor.

They have grown up with her, whereas they do not know anything about the other candidate, Mr. Schulz”.

After all, she is running for the 4th mandate, and after almost twelve years, electors are not for a change.

That’s what came out from the surveys.

Germany doesn’t have financial trouble unlike France or other euro zone countries.

Over the past ten years, they have continued to grow, deadening the impact of the economic crisis.

This year, Germany’s GDP should grow by 1.5%, and the youth unemployment rate is the lowest in Europe, nailed at 6.5%
