I choised this personnage because I supported a big part of my « mémoire » on his pedagogic proposals.

He was an American philosopher, educator, psychologist, and one of the most importants pedagogues of the 20th century (1859-1952).

His contributions belong to the pragmatic paradigm and his pedagogy to the thought of "new education".

In the field of pedagogy he made great contributions, for example his famous method "learning by doing".

Dewey criticizes the classical approach to knowledge.

The main concept related to the theory of knowledge is "experience".

"Experience continually occurs because the interaction of the living creature and the conditions surrounding it is implied in the very process of life.

Dewey believes that educational praxis involves an intelligent handling of issues, and this is an openness to the educator's deliberation regarding his / her specific educational situation and the consequences that can be derived from the different courses of action.

Dewey distinguishes between a general and an individual method.

Dewey propouse a methode comformed by five phases: The consideration of some actual and actual experience of the child.

The identification of any problem or difficulty arising from that experience.

The formulation of the solution hypothesis.
