The Eiffel Tower or the "iron lady" as people call it, is one of the most famous monuments in the world.

It is located in the Champs de Mars in the 7th district of Paris and is easily accessible by underground.

This structure was made by Gustave Eiffel at the end of the 19th century for the universal exhibition that took place in Paris.

This 300-meter-high tower was a prowess at the time and wasn't supposed to last more than the exhibition's duration.

Local people didn't really appreciate this gigantic piece of iron despite of the technological achievement that was quite impressive for that period.

The lifts are still functioning thanks to an ingenious hydraulic system and the tower is regularly checked to ensure the safety standards.

From my point of view, this monument is not only original but it is also the result of an early ambition in developing technological progress.

Furthermore, once the visitor has reached the top floor, he can admire an outstanding view on the city and on other monuments such as the "Sacrée coeur", the golden dome of the "Invalides", the bridges crossing the Seine and the alluringly beautiful little lady Liberty wrapped of gold, facing the horizon westward.

Nowadays, French people consider the Eiffel Tower as a highly symbolic monument that represents their country the world over.

Its imposing stature is also seen as a symbol of strength and solidity that has stood there for more than a century.

Hopefully, the Eiffel Tower will carry on standing on its four pillars for centuries to come.
