- The table illustrates how the lands of North America, Oceania and Europe were influences by these sources in the period of 1990s.
- According to the provided data, a region that suffered most was Europe.
- Its land degraded by 23% in 1990s and the main reason for such a change was deforestation that made up almost 10%.
- Over-cultivation and over-grazing accounted for 7.7% and 5.5% respectively.
- Oceania’s land productivity fell down by 13%.
- Interestingly, the most considerable cause was over-grazing (slightly above than 11%).
- In contrast, overall land degradation in North America was quite negligible.
- In total it decreased by 5% with over-cultivation being the biggest proportion of losing land productivity (just over 3%).
- Overall, grazing was the most significant reason for worldwide land degradation in 1990s that accounted for 35%.
- Deforestation and cultivation made up 30% and 28% respectively.
- Moreover, there were other reasons for this phenomenon of land deterioration.
