The topic of animal testing has always provoked many discussions in our society.
There are many people who believe that animals sholud be treated with respect since they are living organisms.
Completely different is the opinion of other people stating that animal testing is essential to solve many human problems.
The amount of new scientific discoveries found through animal testing during the last few years should make ourselves aware of the importance of this practice.
Indeed, tests on animals have helped to find many new medicines that are essential to cure human health.
What is more, important discoveries on human genetics have been made by the reasearches on animals, since the way their body and their brain work is in many cases equal to ours.
However, there are some disadvantages in animal testing.
The first and most important negative aspect of this practice is the massive exploitation of animals; in addition to this there are the extremely bad conditions they live.
As many reportages on phatmaceutical industry show, tests on animals are generally taken in bad conditions, wothout respect for these living beings.
Probably the cost is the basical reason of the preference of animal testing instead of other researching methods.
It is well known, indeed, that it is cheaper than other methods.
These two opposing viewpoints both have merit.
Even if we are most of the times unconscious of the advantages of this practice, animal testing is essential in science research and as a consequence in our life.
However, they are living creatures and should be treated in a respectful way.
