1.
The window
Since Rita was cruelly killed Carter has sat near the window.
No TV, reading or correspondence.
His life is what he sees through the curtains.
He doesn't care who brings him food, pays his bills.
He doesn't leave the room.
His life is passers-by, changing seasons, passing by cars, a ghost of Rita.
Carter doesn't realise there are no windows in chambers with walls covered by felt. 2. The ghost.
As soon as this happened, I hurried up home to tell my wife this sad news.
But it seemed she didn't listened to me.
She didn't noticed me at all.
She had looked through me and filled up her glass.
She switched on TV.
At that moment a telephone rang.
She came to the telephone and picked it up.
I saw how her face had wrinkled.
She bursted into tears.
