The first part of the story “The Fury” by Stan Barstow was written in 1961 and deals with the plans for the day of the family Fletcher.
Mrs. Fletcher is pretty sure that her husband loves his Angora rabbits more than her.
As usual Mr. Fletcher prepares his two rabbits for the afternoon's show in Cressley.
At the dinner Mr. Fletcher is in a hurry.
He talks to Mrs. Fletcher but she is not interested rather she wants to know if he will reach the movie she wants to watch.
Her husband advices her to go to the cinema with their neighbour Mrs. Sykes but she isn't into to ask her, instead she assumes his accuracy.
When the rabbit raiser leaves after dinner, Mrs. Fletcher thinks about his handsomeness.
Late in the evening Mr. Fletcher finally comes back from his rabbit show.
Too late for his date.
His wife is angry and it ends up in a fight.
