Pygmalion is a greek myth told by Ovide in "Metamorphosis" in the third century before Jesus Christ.
The story take place in the Cyprus's island in the Antique World.
Pygmalion is a talented sculptor, who likes make beautiful ivoiry statues.
His works seduce all women of Cyprus, then each of them dream to get married with him.
However, it is not reciprocal for Pygmalion: he hates women, because of their many defaults like egoism, vanity, jealousy... so he prefers to rest alone.
A day, he decides to make the most beautiful sculpture of all his works, and to create the perfect woman, his ideal female.
After several month of hard work, his statue represent a woman with a beauty really incomparable, so wonderful that he falls in love of it.
This new consuming passion render him crazy: every day, he admires it, speaks it, kisses it and gives it of presents.
But the sculpture is inhuman and without feeling.
He becomes totally desperate.The goddess Aphrodite hears his crying and decides to give life in this stuff.
So, Pygmalion can married with the new woman, called Galatée.
Together, they have a child with the name of Paphos.
