Who should strike a balance bw. environment and development?
Nowadays, a balance between environment and economy growth is more and more important for governments.
First, governments have introduced the so-called environmental certificates in recent years in order to encourage companies reducing their environmental pollution.
Each industrial firm gets a specific amount of certificates per year.
They can trade the certificates to avoid paying fines by overrunning their maximum of pollution.
Secondly, the ‘polluter pays’ principle.
At this principle, polluters are directly responsible for their pollution.
For instance, they install sack filters or renew machines for reducing electronic consumption.
