Holidays in england in january 2013

Hello, i am Thibaut. I live in France.
I am 22 years old and i am a law student.

In january for my holidays, i want to go in UK to discover this country, to meet a people and to learn the english.

My university professor of English says that Londres is very expensive so i think to go in the north of england.

I search people interested for a meet.

I don't know this country, it's the first time that i come.
