Hello, everyone. +:)
My name is Sol and I´ll be heading off to Paris in mid July.
My idea is to teach English there, but... I have no formal degree as a teacher because I studied at the Teacher´s Training College here in Argentina for 3 years (where I am from) but then made up my mind, quit my studies as a teacher and started the Translator and Interpreters course of studies... but more often than not, I pay my bills from my teaching jobs... I mean, I mostly teach than translate. I´d love to resume the Teaching course of studies but I´m flying pretty soon so have no time enough...
Hense, here´s my question Does anyone know if I will need a certificate to teach English in Paris? Such as the TEFL or TESOL kind of certificates? Are they VEEEEEEEEEERY necessary to be able to teach in France? I mean, do you know anyone or have you gone through the
situation yourselves of finding a job but not been hired because you didn´t have those certificates? I have teaching experience in Ireland (Spanish teacher) and looooooooads of experience as English teacher here in Argentina... besides I have worked as swimming teacher in Ireland... what I mean to say is, I have lived for a nice while in an Anglophonic country (I think I´ve just made that word up, have I? sounds
cool, it does!) and I know about methodology and stuff like that... well, anyway, I´ll keep my question short and sweet for you Do I or do I not need in a compulsory way those certificates to be able to teach in France?
I´ll ask for cool webpages where I can find a job as an English teacher, too if you know of any. Am I being abusive!? +:)
Any more tips you´d like to give me will be really appreciated!
Thanks a mill guys!
All the best!
Sol
