What does "as hobbies go" means in this sentence:   (they are talking about people who like to take pictures of the clouds) "well, as hobbies go, it's quite unusual but people must be interested if he's set up a society."

I think it means that as a hobby, it can work out. If you guys could give me the meaning and some examples of it, I would fell really thankfull. Thanks!
