In French, do you have an icon such as Marilyn Monroe which means someone who made a name for herself in world of show business and who died young a dog's death yet still has influence in a way that person lived is being passed on to younger generation?

I'm going to learn some French from her/ his quotes, so if you know someone who has one, it would be appreciated.
