The question of whether teaching international news at schools is useful or not has been widely discussed in recent years.
Some people believe that studying international affairs can help students in their future career while others claim that it is pointless.
Personally, I think that this question is a controversial one and is open for debate.
The first thing that should be noted is that studying international news widens students’ knowledge about other people’s lives oversees.
For instance, some news introduces us international traditions, cultures, disasters, political and economic situations.
Furthermore, it inspires students to study foreign languages and understand other cultures.
As a result it gives students a conception of the countries which they may visit in the future.
In addition studying international affairs and news would create a general base of interpreting constitutions of different countries and contradictions between them.
This information may help students climb the corporate ladder to the top.
On the other hand, overloaded curriculum may affect students physically and psychologically.
Hence, in favour of students` health, no excess subjects should be added into curriculum especially unessential ones.
Moreover, some news are inappropriate for teenagers and should be censored before reading or watching.
Teachers should make sure that these news will not abuse adolescents.
I believe that children who want to be aware of international news should watch them at home under parental supervision.
In any case it will be better for secondary school students to study general subjects at school and enjoy their childhood with no pressure of anxious news.
