Asking for trouble
- It must have been about two in the morning when my husband returned home.
- At the time, I slept soundly when he tried to wake me up by ringing the doorbell.
- Soon afterwards, I heard a noisy voice from outside windows.
- It seemed a person was arguing.
- I could not bear it and went to open the window.
- A man soon climbed into my house.
- I was scared though.
- After I realized the man is my husband.
- I was fast asleep again.
- The next morning, he explained what had happened last night.
- As usual, he got a ladder from the shed in the garden while he forgot his key.
- I used to suggest this was danger of climbing to the window by the ladder.
- Supposed that being found by a police, he must be asked to go to the station.
- However, it came true last night.
- A police asked him whether the windows needn’t being cleaned at the middle of night.
- He nearly fell off the ladder when he saw a policeman.
- The police did not believe him.
- Even if my husband told him that he enjoyed cleaning the windows at night.
- The police interrupted my husband’s explanation that he had forgotten his key, and started to climb towards him.
- He was supposed to be staying in the station and being questioned unless I opened the window.
