A few years ago my family and I went to Turkey.
We rent a sailing boat with the whole crew, who were all locals, except the cleaning woman, who was from the Netherlands.
The boat was amazing because it was about 30 meters long and we didn’t had to share it with other people.
The purpose of our holiday was to relax, to swim and to snorkel. It was great.
We also were able to decide where we want to go with the boat, so my family and I saw a lot of beautiful places.
I think this kind of a holiday is more ecofriendly than other ones, because we didn’t go to places were a lot of tourists were.
Our captain, who was a local, had his own garden where he prepared his own vegetables and fruits, which our cook used for the meals.
I think because of that, there wasn’t so much garbage, since they hadn’t any wrapping.
In the evening we all sat together and we talked about a lot of things, such as the culture of Turkey.
We even had the chance to get to know some of the friends of our captain.
I think such trips have a very positive impact for the local people, since they get the money and not the huge companies.
In my opinion my CO2 footprint wasn’t too big, because we only were on the sailing boat.
I would totally go there for a second time.
I haven’t any plans for my next holiday yet, so I might search in the internet for a more eco-friendly holiday, but I think there is also the chance, that my next holiday might be less eco-friendly than this one.
