With increased awareness about what we really eat, where it comes from, how it is produced and modified—especially carnic aliments—, more and more people are going vegetarian every day.

Yet, should this be the general rule to be implemented in schools?

This essay will explore the idea of whether meat should be banned from our school cafeteria.

First and foremost, it is not true to say that carrying on a vegetarian diet is a healthy habit.

Actually, vegetarians have to take special pills in order to supply their nutritional faults due to the lack of meat consumption in their quotidian lives.

Although they state that they are as healthy as any other omnivore human being, scientific research has proved that stopping eating meat involves unhealthy alterations of our normal microbiota.

Another key point regarding whether offering any meet at school is how animals whose meet we consume are treated.

In this respect, we should make an improvement and offer meat coming from fair-trade farms that provide a healthy and respectful environment to their animals.

Taking all this into account, I strongly consider that meat should not be taken away from our canteen menu as Nature proves that humans have been provided with the capacity to be omnivore and thus we should profit it.

However, we should keep our vegetarian menu and be sure that henceforth and forevermore only eco-friendly meet is available at the cafeteria.
