Built in 1873 by the French architect Albert Louvet, Le Petit Chichifu, became one of the most elitist theaters of Southern England; status that kept for 20 years until its prestige and popularity diminished and eventually it ended up being abandoned.

In its golden years, Le Petit Chichifu was frequented by the highest social classes of the time (both French and British).

Its remote location, made it the perfect rendezvous for those nobles who wanted to differ and be away from the common poor people of the suburbs.

It is not truly acknowledged the reasons why it went bankrupt, although chronicles of the time, hint that the theatre went mainstream and thus, little attractive to wealthy egos.

In 1979 Albert Louver’s nephew, Tiberius Louver, restores the theatre and makes a profitable business out of it.
