I´ve just read your article about the negative effects of the internet and video games on children and I would like to add my standpoint to it.
It is certainly true that children, at the present time, play less outside and have consequently less physical activities but this phenomenon is partly due to other factors than computers.
Indeed, nowadays, parents are more worried about the security of their children and most of them don´t let their offsprings play outside like the previous generations when everybody knew each other in the neighborhood and people were part of a joint community.
The other reason why children are often playing with a computer is because parents work a lot and are less available for their children.
Besides, the internet can benefit children to improve their knowledge.
Some schools and teachers use the internet and teach pupils how to use it to do a research for example.
Regarding computer games, some studies have shown that they help to increase reflexes, sense of direction and quickness of mind.
Obviously, it depends on the games we are talking about and the amount of hours children can spend on them.
In conclusion, to put it in a nutshell, stating that some problems with children´s health or social behavior stem from the internet and computer games is a bit reducing from my viewpoint and I think that computers can be very useful for our children´s lives and development, relatively speaking of course.
